  • April It’s hard to believe that April is already over! We started the month by celebrating Easter and ended with our Spring Program. What a great month it has been! We learned letters W, X and Y. We also reviewed all the alphabet letters and numbers we have learned this school year. We spent a week learning about dinosaurs- which the children loved! The last week of April was a crazy one- packed full of our Spring Program, parent-teacher conferences, our field trip to Dairy Queen and a visit from the Shawnee Township Fire Department with the Smoke House! In May, we will finish out the alphabet with letter Z and a review of all the letters. We will have a visit from the Shawnee Township Police Department and celebrate Mother’s Day with the important women in our lives.
  • March For March we learned letters S, T U and V. We also learned the letters 18, 19 and 20. WE had a fun time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by eating all green foods! We also had a leprechaun show up while we were in the play room! He made a mess of our room, went potty in our restroom without flushing and left glitter everywhere! As an apology, he left us a special treat- Rolos! Coming up in April, we will learn the letters W, X and Y and review our numbers. WE will be learning about Easter and Spring, as well as practicing for our Spring Program on Monday, April 24th.
  • February We started off our February by learning about Groundhog’s Day. After that, we celebrated Valentine’s Day. From there we talked about presidents on President’s Day. Our Valentine’s Party was a lot of fun. We had lots of yummy snacks, played fun games and passed out our Valentine’s cards to all our friends. A special thank you to Beth Graff for helping during the party and to all the others who provided items as well. Throughout the month, we also discussed letters P, Q, R and S, as well as numbers 15, 16, 17 and 18. We are rounding out February with a Switch Day on transportation. Heading into March well be discussing Spring, St. Patrick’s Day and continuing learning our letters and numbers.

During all of this we also took time to remember what the holiday season is all about- Jesus. WE learned all about the birth of Jesus and how much he loves us. We also talked about what we wanted for Christmas and some of our family traditions this time of year. At the beginning of the month we had an Elf come to keep an eye on everyone for Santa. The children named him Tinsel. During our holiday party, we also had a visit from Mrs. Claus. She read a story and everyone got a present. Everyone was so happy and excited!
  • November This month was all about being thankful! We discussed what we are thankful for, as well as the history of Thanksgiving and our family’s Turkey Day plans. At the beginning of this month we also talked about elections and why they are important. WE also held our own election and voted on new curtains for our classroom. • September What a great month! The first few weeks were spent getting to know each other and having some fun. For grandparents day we invited grandparents for a pizza lunch and had a great turn out. Thanks to everyone who attended! We have now started our alphabet and numbers. Letter “A” week was spent learning about apples and other words that start with “A.” We also practiced writing “Aa” and the number 0. Each Thursday Miss Abbey will be doing a fun science activity with the kids to correlate with the letter. For “A” they made apple-canoes! Coming up in October we will be working on more letters, as well as talking about all things fall and Halloween.
