Early Head Start Tiny Toddlers

  • April This month we had our Easter Party! The kids also enjoyed an Easter egg hunt as well. Thanks to all parents who donated plastic eggs and bags of candy to help the classroom. Also, a big thanks for parents who brought in treats for our party! With Spring here, the teacher will be holding parent-teacher conferences. Please meet with your child’s teacher for more details. Warm weather is on its way! Please be sure your child has proper clothing. This Spring/Summer our goal is to work on major communication skills. Please be sure to fill out your in-kind service forms. This helps both parent and child achieve goals!
  • February We had a great February! We enjoyed celebrating Valentine’s Day. Thank you to all our families who brought in items and came to our party. The children spent time working on their canvas projects. They also enjoyed painting with cars, playing with the new kitchen set and making ladybug prints. The teachers have been working on ASL skills with the children as well. We also transitioned the classroom to accommodate all of the younger toddlers in order to make space for a transitional 3-year-old room. We are looking forward to a great March!
  • January We are learning about the color red and working on our sign language skills. By the end of the month, we hope that each child will be able to sign the word “red”.  We are also going to have Pajama Day every Wednesday until Winter ends. We hope to ease the rough mornings and help our friends and parents to have a smooth and easy morning.
  • December Thank you to all our families for being a part of our Christmas party! This month we focused on learning the colors red and green. You have all done an excellent job of returning in-kind forms that indicate that your children are working at home on simple skills. Thank you! Keep up the good work.
  • November Please be sure to check your child’s cubby every Friday. It is important to take home naptime materials to be washed over the weekend. Also, please bring in weather and size appropriate extra clothes for your child to wear in case of accidents. In our classroom, we are striving for each child to show progress with their fine motor skills. Please be sure you are practicing these with everyday activities in the home. Each week we also enjoy creating 2 art projects. Thank you to all our families who participated in the Thanksgiving Feast!
  • September At the beginning of the month we worked on colors. We mixed colors together to make other colors, blue and yellow make green, red and blue make purple, red and yellow make orange. We also are working on shape recognition. We have made crafts using certain shapes. We also started a weather unit. We discussed how rain comes from clouds and how the sun helps keep us warm. We will continue to enforce color and shape recognition while introducing letters and numbers. As a class we also discuss ways to be a good friend to others to encourage sharing and taking turns. Next month, we will be doing a lot of fall and harvest themed activities. We will have our fall party on October 27.
